Varun began his illustrious career at Luthra & Luthra Law Offices, where he initially joined as an Associate in their Intellectual Property Rights Practice. Over the course of four years, he transitioned into their Dispute Resolution practice, honing his skills in litigation and arbitration. His tenure at Luthra & Luthra laid a solid foundation for his future endeavours, equipping him with the requisite skills to navigate complex legal challenges.

Seeking to further specialize in International Commercial Arbitration, Varun pursued an LL.M. at Columbia Law School. This advanced legal education provided him with a global perspective and deepened his understanding of international arbitration, positioning him as a formidable force in the field.

Following his academic achievements, Varun joined Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas in Mumbai as a Senior Associate (Designate) in their Dispute Resolution Practice. During his one and a half years with the firm, he worked on a variety of high-stakes disputes, further solidifying his reputation as a skilled litigator and arbitrator.

Currently, he appears before various judicial bodies, drafts pleadings for diverse disputes, provides advisory and opinion work, and drafts contracts and agreements. His practice is marked by a comprehensive approach to legal issues, covering Special Leave Petitions, Writs, copyright matters, corporate arbitrations, telecom issues, labour disputes, and environmental law cases.

  • Acted for a major commercial bank in Civil Proceedings concerning execution of a UK Queens Bench Division Money Decree, before the Telangana High Court and Supreme Court of India as well as criminal proceedings against the Borrower.
  • Acted for a private equity firm in execution of a foreign decree, passed by the Queen’s Bench Division, United Kingdom (which is a superior court of a reciprocating territory) before the Bombay High Court and the Supreme Court of India.
  • Acted for one of the largest tube packaging company in criminal proceedings before the Mumbai Sessions Court under the MPID Act for de-freezing of Bank Accounts.
  • Acted for a leading textile manufacturer before the Supreme Court of India and NCLAT on insolvency laws and Negotiable Instruments Act.
  • Acted for a leading cement company in proceedings against the State Governments for withdrawal of benefits under State Policies.
  • Acted for a power company before the National Green Tribunal in an appeal against the Environmental Clearance granted to our client for setting up a 1320MW Super Critical Thermal Power Plant.

  • Acted for the Liquidator of a telecom company in proceedings before the Special Court, CBI and Delhi High Court in matter concerning the 2G Spectrum Scam.
  • Acted for a MNC dealing in marine and energy markets in criminal proceedings against the CBI in Chennai on the complicated issue of successorship of criminal liability post mergers/acquisitions of companies.

  • Represented in the famous proceedings of State v. Tapan Malik and assisted the prosecution leading to a successful conviction of the accused by the appellate Court.
